Job Description

The Equipment Technician operates and monitors PCB manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced production environment, ensuring consistent quality and output. This role performs routine inspections, basic adjustments, and first-level troubleshooting on equipment and products, while maintaining a clean, safe work area and following detailed work instructions. The position requires hands-on work with printed circuit boards, chemicals, and production systems, as well as close collaboration with engineering, maintenance, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor PCB manufacturing equipment during production, startup, and shutdown to ensure stable, consistent operation.
  • Make basic adjustments to machines and processes to keep product quality and production rates on track.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on production equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Conduct first-level troubleshooting of equipment and process issues, using mechanical, electrical, and electronic knowledge to identify root causes.
  • Handle rework of nonconforming printed circuit boards and products according to defined procedures and quality standards.
  • Report recurring or complex equipment, process, or quality issues promptly to engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Use hand tools, metrology instruments, and calibration equipment to inspect, repair, and maintain machinery and components.
  • Follow work instructions and standard operating procedures to handle chemicals safely, including flammable, toxic, corrosive, and other hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper management of supplies, chemicals, and waste.
  • Use production and inventory management systems such as MES/ERP to track work orders, materials, and equipment status.
  • Work effectively with other technicians and cross-functional teams, communicating clearly about status, issues, and priorities.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities, roles, and responsibilities while working independently with minimal oversight.
  • Support inspection and quality control activities through accurate measurement, documentation, and adherence to IPC and internal standards.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience with printed circuit boards (PCBs), engineering laminates, electrochemical processes, and/or microelectronics fabrication, including relevant school projects, clubs, or internships.
  • Hands-on experience operating production machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Practical troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, basic repair, and first-level diagnostics on production equipment.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency using a computer and Microsoft Office suite for documentation, reporting, and communication.
  • Experience using production and inventory management software such as MES/ERP.
  • Experience working in a wet lab environment.
  • Experience handling flammable, toxic, corrosive, or otherwise hazardous chemicals in a controlled setting.
  • Familiarity with metrology, calibration, and inspection tools to verify product and equipment performance.
  • Comfort using a wide range of hand tools for assembly, adjustment, and repair tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to collaborate with technicians and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to organize work, maintain priorities, and manage multiple tasks in a high-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Current or past certification for IPC-A-600, IPC-6012, or an equivalent standard for PCB quality and acceptance.

  • Experience in electronics, mechanical systems, or related technical fields through education, training, or hands-on experience.
  • Experience in cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with plastic components and assemblies used in manufacturing processes.
  • Exposure to electrochemical processes and microelectronics fabrication techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly adapt to changing production demands and evolving processes.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Comfort working as part of a cross-functional team that includes engineering, maintenance, and operations.

Work Environment

This role is based in an indoor production facility focused on advanced PCB and satellite-related manufacturing. Work involves operating and maintaining complex machinery, using metrology and calibration equipment, and handling a variety of chemicals in a controlled environment that may include cleanroom or clean-area practices. The setting is fast-paced and high-tech, with close collaboration among technicians, engineering, and operations teams. Multiple 12-hour shift options are available: A shift runs 5:00am to 5:00pm from Sunday to Wednesday; B shift runs 5:00am to 5:00pm from Thursday to Sunday; C shift runs 5:00pm to 5:00am from Sunday to Wednesday; and D shift runs 5:00pm to 5:00am from Thursday to Sunday. The facility emphasizes safety, adherence to procedures, and consistent production quality while offering exposure to advanced tools, systems, and processes.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $93000.00/yr.
