Test and Acceptance Engineer
Christchurch (onsite role) – 12 month contract – Pay rate 53.73 p/h PAYE basic (62.57 p/h including holiday pay) or 72.54 p/h Umbrella
We are currently recruiting for a Test and Acceptance Engineer at our defence clients Christchurch site. This long-term appointment is a complement to the existing 45 strong team that provides support to a fully integrated command and control system for the MoD. This exciting systems & software programme covers many disciplines including design, development, installation, implementation, integration, acceptance, training and logistics support – it is run solely from the Christchurch site for delivery to the customer at various MoD locations.
The Test and Acceptance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability and performance of the system through testing and defect identification. This role involves designing and executing test cases, documenting results, and collaborating closely with others in the test team, developers, and other stakeholder to deliver high-quality software that meets business and user requirements. The manual tester plays a key role in identifying issues early in the software development lifecycle to ensure quality standards are maintained.
The candidate must hold a minimum of SC clearance without caveats and be prepared to be processed for DV clearance. Ideally already holding DV clearance.
Typical Duties:
- Develop/maintain a set of tests that prove the functionality of the system to be delivered
- Carry out testing activities during the product lifecycle
- Partake in customer witnessed acceptance test events at customer sites
- Produce and update test reports and test schedules
- Rig management – carrying out deployments, installing patches and managing configurations/test environments
- Defect clearance
- Verification and Validation
- Must be prepared to work away from home for short periods in MoD environments
Requirements:
- Implementation of test strategies
- Proven ability of non-functional and functional testing strategies and execution
- Proven ability with defect tracking tools
- Proven ability in a testing role - integration, regression, acceptance & performance testing
- Creation of test case definition through requirements analysis
- Knowledge of fault analysis and reporting to development teams
- Good communications skills to be able to discuss issues with developers
Desirable:
- Previous participation in a SAT
- Leading a test programme
- PowerShell and Command Prompt skills in aid of running test scripts
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems, including Active Directory
- Basic networking understanding
- DV cleared
Additional Information:
The successful candidate will need to hold a UK MOD Security Clearance to SC level prior to starting, the client will sponsor a new application if you are not currently cleared.
